From July 15, Jet Airways’ domestic economy flyers will have to pay Rs 3999 for checking in second bag

Taking a second bag weighing up to 15 kg on Jet Airways’ domestic flights will cost Rs 3,999, the airline said late on Saturday night. The Naresh Goyal-owned carrier will be the first Indian airline to move to piece concept on domestic flights when from July 15 the allowed free check-in 15 kg will need to be taken in one bag.

Currently, private domestic airlines allow 15 kg which theoretically can be taken in any number of bags collectively weighing that much, thereby increasing handling cost and processing time for airlines.
“Checking in an additional bag weighing up to 15 kg for a domestic flight in economy class will cost Rs 3,999 from July 15,” a Jet spokesperson said. Apart from this, Jet — like full-service Air India — has hiked its excess baggage charges from Rs 400 to Rs 500 per kg. “We will continue to review baggage and other policies and will revise based on market conditions and commercial requirements,” Jet spokesperson added.
Jet’s domestic flights are moving to “piece concept” for check-in baggage from July 15 where they allowed 15 kg of free check-in stuff will need to be carried in one bag by economy passengers. And up to 30 kg for business class passengers in two bags.

So be careful before you pack your bags, try to pack all the stuff in one baggage only.
