1. After 1998, several parts of the return regulation were changed, and full refund rules were issued. Revised refund rules are effective from November 12, 2015

2. The following is the goal of the new refund regulation changes:

(i). To stop the potential for misuse.
(ii). Make mobile ticketing or proposed paperless ticketing more convenient for passengers.
(iii). To prevent brokers and agents from selling tickets on the black market.
(iv). If trains are cancelled, e-tickets are automatically refunded (already implemented w.e.f. 01.07.2015). In this scenario, there is no need to file a TDR.

Note: No refund after the above prescribed time limit.

3. The major changes in the existing rules are as under:-

Between 48 hours and 6 hours before the scheduled departure of the train @ 25% subject to minimum charge as per (i) above.<br>(iii) From 6 hours before the scheduled departure of the train and upto 2 hours after the actual departure of the train @ 50% subject to minimum charge as per (i) above.<br>(iv) No refund after the above prescribed time limit. Cancellation charge per passenger on confirmed (reserved) tickets:-<br>(i). 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train minimum cancellation charge<br><b>1st AC/executive class: Rs. 240<br>2 AC/1st Class: Rs. 200<br>3AC/ACC/3A economy: Rs. 180<br>Second sleeper class : Rs. 120<br>Second class : Rs. 60<br></b>(ii). Between 48 hours and 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train @ 25% subject to minimum charge as per (i) above.<br>(iii) between 12 hours and 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train @ 50% subject to minimum charge as per (i) above.<br> (iv) No refund after the above prescribed time limit.
3. Partially confirmed: Up to 2 hours after the train actually departs. Confirmed: Up to half an hour before the train's scheduled departure,
4. RAC/WL tickets may be refunded up to 3 hours prior to the actual departure of the train, after deduction of the clerkage fee. There will be no refunds after this period. 5. In case of cancellation of trains for e-tickets, TDRs must be filed before 01.07.2015. 'No change to counter PRS tickets'. With effect from 01.07.2015, automatic refunds are granted for e-ticket cancellations. There is no need to file a TDR. There is no change to counter PRS tickets.
