The IRCTC Railway previously allowed people to book six tickets a month if their account is not associated with Aadhar and 12 if it is.
The IRCTC railway website and app now allow people to book 24 train tickets in a month if their user ID is linked to Aadhaar; otherwise, only 12 tickets can be purchased, the railways announced on Monday.
The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) allows people to book six tickets per month if the account isn’t linked to Aadhar, and 12 if it is linked.
According to the ministry, “Indian Railways has decided to increase the limit of booking a maximum of six tickets in a month to 12 tickets by a user ID that is not linked to Aadhaar and the limit of booking a maximum of twelve tickets in a month to 24 tickets by a user ID that is linked to Aadhaar and where one of the passengers can be verified with Aadhaar,” the ministry said.
This will be helpful not only for frequent travelers but also for family members who use the same account to book train tickets.
